Our projects aren’t just about turbines - they’re about empowering people and transforming communities.

Salpo

Salpo is a picturesque mountain town of La Libertad in Northern Peru with an altitude of 3,000 meters above the sea, about 3 hours aways from the city of Trujillo. Known for its stunning Andean landscapes, Salpo is rich in cultural heritage, with a history rooted in traditional mining and agriculture.

Despite its natural beauty, the community faces challenges such as limited access to reliable electricity and infrastructure. Sustainable initiatives like our wind energy projects provide crucial support, helping improve the quality of life and fostering long-term development for Salpo’s residents.

WindAid seeks to develop 5 wind turbines for the Salpo community in 2025.

San Pedro parte Alta y Baja

San Pedro parte Alta y Baja is comprised of 2 sister communities in the highlands with an altitude of 2,800 meters above the sea. Situated in the district of Agallpampa, region of Otuzco, La Libertad, about 3 hours aways from the city of Trujillo. It is known for its stunning views an more rural, traditional lifestyle.

Both areas share a close-knit community spirit and face challenges such as limited access to reliable electricity, making them key beneficiaries of WindAid’s sustainable energy initiatives.

The community has about 340 inhabitants. Of the 10 homes that did not have access to electricity, WindAid has electrified 4 homes with our wind turbine and solar panel systems in 2024.

Nuevo California

Nuevo California is a small rural community in the highlands situated in the district of Agallpampa, region of Otuzco, La Libertad with an altitude of 2,200 meters above the sea. It is about 3 hours away from the city of Trujillo. 

The community is home to a resilient and close-knit population that rely on agriculture and small-scale farming for their livelihoods. It faces challenges such as limited access to infrastructure and consistent electricity, making them key beneficiaries of WindAid’s sustainable energy initiatives.

The community has a population of about 240 inhabitants. Of the 8 homes that did not have access to electricity, WindAid has electrified 7 homes with our wind turbine and solar panel systems between 2022 to 2024.

Luz del Sol

Luz del Sol is a small, vibrant village situated in northern Peru, known for its resilience and community initiatives that aim to improve the well-being of its residents. Located near Trujillo in the La Libertad region, Luz del Sol is one of several villages benefitting from regional development efforts, including healthcare, basic utilities, and energy accessibility. 

The village's surrounding landscape is common in the coastal northern regions, is semi-arid. It gives Luz del Sol a distinctive environment shaped by a mix of desert-like terrain and agricultural land. Proximity to archaeological sites and other cultural landmarks adds to the unique character of Luz del Sol, where modern community efforts blend with rich historical surroundings.

WindAid has provided 3 wind turbines to 3 different public institutions: school, police station and an organic garden farm.

El Chorro

El Chorro is a small hamlet located in the Cajamarca Department of northern Peru. Nestled at an altitude of around 1,364 meters (4,475 feet), this village is home to approximately 168 residents. Surrounded by neighboring villages like Monte Seco and La Coca, El Chorro is known for its tranquil, rural landscape and small community setup. The region’s agricultural activities center on crop cultivation and livestock, and its natural surroundings feature scenic views of the Andean terrain​ and natural waterfalls.

Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca is a Peruvian fisherman community situated in the northern coast district of Sechura, of the Piura region, with an altitude of 2,200 meters above the sea. It is located about 3 hours from the city of Trujillo. The community is known for its scenic and quiet beach and its expansive white sands and calm, inviting waters. Local regulations encourage sustainable tourism, asking visitors to be mindful of their waste to preserve Playa Blanca’s pristine environment​

Playa Blanca remains WindAid’s most remarkable community due to its long running participation in our programs from 2014-2019 . WindAid has installed 27 individual wind turbines for residential homes in this community. Our shared goals to create a sustainable community, was achieved in part to the installation of WindAid wind turbines. Read more about the project, here and at our Youtube channel.
