Arrival
Upon your arrival in Trujillo, you will be picked up at the airport and brought to your accommodations at the Espaanglisch House. You can arrive up to 2 days before your program starts. Spend your first few days exploring the city and getting well acquainted with your new housemates and neighbors.
Day 1-2
The first few days in the workshop will be dedicated to meeting the WindAid team and familiarizing yourself with the Universidad Nacional de Trujillo (UNT) campus. There, you will learn the basics about wind energy from the team and UNT professors. Additionally, you will receive training on workshop procedures, and health and safety practices. -
Choose your length of stay
In addition to learning about wind energy and how to fabricate and install an entire wind turbine system, you will also learn about solar energy and how to install a solar panel. Gain skills in using power tools, soldering, welding, industrial painting, and so much more! Meanwhile, you will learn about additional nonprofit management skills such as marketing, communication, fundraising, and more. In the past, we’ve had interns organize and manage educational workshops, community visits, and relationship building with our partners and beneficiaries. During this time, you will be required to submit project deliverables catered to your interests. -
Various Days
Depending on your length of stay, you will have the opportunity to work in the field on various occasions. Here, you will install wind turbine and solar systems, maintain existing systems, and work with community members. This is the culmination of the program where you can immerse yourself in the community and experience the impact you’ve contributed. -
Last Day
We will wrap up the project by cleaning and closing up the workshop. Afterwards, we will celebrate our project accomplishments with a group outing to one of our favorite places in and around Trujillo.
