During your stay with us, you will be living in a house along with other volunteers and team members, situated close to the center of Trujillo.
Basic services such as hot water, electricity, kitchen utilities, and wifi will be provided, as well as your meals (breakfast and lunch) during your working hours from Monday to Friday.
There are always plenty of activities that you can do in the house along with volunteers such as playing games, watching a film together, cooking, reading in the living room, and partying.
At WindAid we have strong commitment with communities authorities and locals we are working with. That said, we work efficiently as a team during our routine work in the workshop and in the community, but we also love to have fun and to do plenty of activities for entertainment that either the city or the environment where we go can offer.

9:00am-12:30pm: It’s workshop time! Every monday morning the team will explain the plan for the week and will make sure that everyone will have a task and also to help them whenever they need it.
12:30pm-1:30pm: Lunch time! We will go to any restaurant not far from the place we work and you will have the chance to pick any peruvian dish that you’d like! 1:30pm-5:00pm: We resume work and before leaving and returning home we put all stuff in order (except fridays, we finish after lunch)
5:00pm: Time to relax and to do whatever you want! There are plenty of activities that you can do in Trujillo or Huanchaco (beach of the city), from getting classes of dancing or sports, to just having a walk in the malls or just having fun with friends in the city’s parks or in the house.
Trujillo is situated on the northern coast of Peru. The country’s third most populous city, it boasts some excellent prehispanic archeological sites to visit, as well as the Historic Center that dates back to the colonial era. In addition to its history, Trujillo offers the chance to get involved in culture alive and well today.
If you’d like to get really involved in the city you’re staying in, we also have excellent links with other local volunteer organizations such as Espaanglisch or Ciudad Postal, who are always happy to welcome you in some of their projects, or just show you around as you explore the city!
In the city, there are a wide variety of salsa or bachata schools to try or gyms to keep you in shape, whilst Trujillo has two multiplex cinemas, showing a range of English and Spanish language films, from Hollywood to arthouse cinema.
While you’re with us, you could also take Spanish lessons and get to know the culture you’re visiting that much better by impressing the locals with your skills!
The area surrounding Trujillo boasts some incredible history, such as Chan Chan, the largest city of the pre-Columbian era in South America. The local ruins are a great short-getaway for an adventure and the team will always be there to advise you on your travels!
Huanchaco is one of the most popular beaches not just of Trujillo but also of all Peru, recognized as one of the best places in the world to catch a wave. It’s also the most common place volunteers like to spend their free time. There, you can surf and swim, play football, volleyball, or frisbee or simply sit back in the sun and try out some beautiful Peruvian cuisine.
