Interested in renewable energy development, community development, or social entrepreneurship? This 5-day online course will provide you the tools and direction you need to start your own renewable project in your local community, pivot into the renewable industry, or develop your own NGO. The program is designed to also test your knowledge with an applicable project and certification of your experience from the course. WindAid aims to break down geolocation and accessibility barriers by offering this first stage of our educational program via zoom’s online platform. No prerequisites are necessary other than an internet connection, time, curiosity, and desire to learn.
Engage and learn from live speakers who are experts in their fields. You will learn the basics of various topics such as wind turbine fabrication, electronics, community engagement, microgrids, fundraising and a few more. See syllabus for more up to date course info. Typical runtime is 40 mins content delivery and 20 mins Q&A.
These are live events where we tour the WindAid workshop and interact with the shop engineers. There are lessons on how to use certain equipment, Q&A with the engineers and getting you excited for Level 2 and 3.
Learn spanish which is specific to Peru and to the communities you will be engaging with. This is not your generic spanish. These lessons will help you understand Peruvians as a local and communicate effectively with vocabulary specific to their dialect, the WindAid equipment and renewable energy.
Engage with former WindAid board members, past participants, NGO founders, engineers and Peruvian community members. These are live events aimed at giving you the chance to ask questions that peak your interest and hear from those experienced in their craft and community.
Using the knowledge that you acquire over the course of 5 days, you will apply it as a team towards a project focused on answering questions that WindAid staff do on a regular basis. You will simulate the development of a community project by preparing the fabrication of a wind turbine (on paper), siting the install, explaining certain details in spanish and connecting electronics using circuit diagrams.
