We are always looking for people to join us in this mission who share our passion and enthsuiasm for renewable energy and come together with people all over the world in making a difference.
Our programs allow families and communities to access not only a clean source of energy but a quality of life that will see them able to live, study and socialise in a way that is befitting of the modern world.
By increasing community members’ quality of accommodation, by providing them with the basic need of electricity
The opportunity for communities to be in better communication with each other and other local areas, by ensuring they have access to phone charging facilities
Giving the chance for children to study and families to socialise when evening comes
Providing a family with a sustainable, inexpensive source of energy, thereby improving their economic situation
This program also offers a focus on education by helping Peruvian communities understand the benefits of renewable energy. You will have the opportunity to contribute to our educational impact by demonstrating the importance and use of clean, sustainable energy sources.
Finally, we are sure you will come to see participation in the program as an inspiration for the potential and power of renewable energies on both a local and global scale.
Working with WindAid Institute provides an ideal opportunity for you to gain experience working on sustainable projects, helping encourage conservation and educating people on the benefits of appropriate and renewable technologies.
You will be interacting and working with a Peruvian team in the city of Trujillo by building a wind turbine from scratch (previous engineering experience is not a requirement to participate in this program).
Accessible from anywhere! Join us for a 5 day virtual course, aimed at preparing you with the basic knowledge of renewable energy, wind turbines and ethical community engagement. If you are looking to sample the industry before making a career change, looking to further your breadth of education or want to make a lasting difference as part of a social entrepreneurship, this is the program to get started with.
You will complete a project designed to simulate the various questions and considerations WindAid participants try to solve on an ongoing basis.
Spend a period of four weeks with us. The first three weeks are spent in our workshop here in the city of Trujillo and in your last week, you will travel to a rural community and install the WindAid turbine you have manufactured in the workshop. And of course, there will be plenty of opportunity for exploring Trujillo and the rest of Peru during evenings and weekends!
Have the chance to become a part of our Research & Design team. Having completed Levels 1 and 2, you are equipped with the knowledge and experience to lead and develop your own project in line with WindAid’s objectives. This could focus on a wide range of areas, but is usually related to: the improvement of the wind turbine, manufacturing process, monitoring systems and machinery equipment, or work with communities, education, communications or training.
The major benefit here is that you can cater the project to building your resume, portfolio or academic thesis etc., earning credit and certification on measurable completion of the project. This level also gives you the chance to be immersed in the environment and culture that Peru has to offer.
You will have the chance to not just live in a house in the middle of the city of Trujillo, but also to travel around different attractive places in Peru during the weekends! We believe in the multiplier effect of the actual journey: From the moment you step foot in Trujillo, to building a wind turbine, to being immersed in Peruvian culture with others, to shareing your experiences with others around you, there will always be something to provide lifelong memories of your South American adventure.
