In Person Practical Training

Gain hands-on work engineer experience, learn from our community projects and develop beautiful relationships with other participants. There’s no requirement to have any engineering background. Anyone will be able to learn and to participate in building a wind turbine from scratch.

Structure

Day 1-3

Introduction & Workshop Training

During your first few days, you will be well acquainted with the city and where you’ll be living. During this time we will also be getting to know each other and learning about the importance of both renewable energy and health safety in our workshop.

Day 4-20

Building The Wind Turbine

Together you’ll be working and learning with your fellow peers about sustainable energy. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience and learn about the mechanics of the products.

Day 20-27

Immerse With The Community

We’ll be relocating to the recipient community for assembly and installing of the Wind Turbine. Working together with the community, we will be educating them on how the Wind Turbine works and how to maintain it. This is a fantastic way to culminate the program and immerse yourself in the installation and experience first hand the impact you will have made.

Gain engineer knowledge and experience by building and installing wind turbine(s) in a rural place.

Anthropological and Social experience by learning from our community work and working with peruvian students or rural residents

“It was not only a personal growth experience helping others, but also an opportunity to get to know the incredible family called WindAid. I left with the certainty that the more you give, the more you receive!"

“I had an amazing experience at WindAid, getting the opportunity to make a turbine with my own 2 hands. Further, we had opportunities to travel around Peru at the weekends. When the final week came, it was super awesome to be offgrid, an experience I’ve not had since - I was disconnected from social media, could see the Milky Way, eating local produce every day and changing a families life all the while!”

“WindAid was an amazing experience. I had no workshop experience, no engineering degree and no renewable energy background - but I gained so much experience at Windaid! I learned to weld, use an array of tools, and create resin models from molds. The housing was right in the heart of Trujillo and near many food options. Abel, the workshop leader, was truly a gem and taught me a lot despite my lack of experience. Gandhi, the director, is a fantastic personable individual who really made the program fun. This program truly was fantastic. From learning how to create things in a workshop to installing our wind turbine in a rural community, my experience at Windaid was truly unique and unforgettable!”
